Savoring the Perfect Glass at 40,000 Feet

Wine in the sky is not just a luxury—it’s a science. At cruising altitude, where air pressure drops and cabin humidity is low, our perception of aromas and taste changes dramatically. Fruit-forward notes are subdued, while bitterness and spice remain pronounced. Even sparkling wines behave differently, with delicate bubbles clinging to the glass instead of releasing their aromatic magic.
At AirWise, we’ve taken this challenge as inspiration to elevate inflight wine enjoyment to an art form. Working with world-renowned sommeliers, cellar masters, and private collectors across the Côte d’Azur and Monaco, our Concierge Branch carefully curates wines that thrive in the skies. From Grand Cru Burgundy to rare vintages of Bordeaux, each label is selected not only for its pedigree but for its performance above the clouds.
Wines That Travel Well, Tasted at Altitude
To truly understand wine at altitude, AirWise has conducted high-altitude tastings aboard private flights departing from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (LFMN). With the participation of seasoned experts and fine wine maisons from France and Italy, these flights have touched down at exclusive vineyards such as Clos de Tart, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
The findings? Altitude accentuates tannins and structure, while muting fruit and floral complexity. That’s why our inflight wine list is carefully calibrated—optimized for how your palate experiences flavor in a pressurized cabin. On board, the cabin pressure is regulated to feel like you're at just 4,500 feet, and background noise is dramatically reduced to preserve the full sensory experience of each pour.

Cellar-to-Sky Wine Experiences
Through our unique Monaco Cellar-to-Sky Program, AirWise offers access to some of the finest private cellars in the Principality. Whether you wish to enjoy an exceptional Petrus 1982, Salon Blanc de Blancs, or a Château d’Yquem mid-flight, we make it possible. Wines can be sourced, delivered, and served with full provenance, thanks to our partnerships with elite wine merchants and collectors across the Riviera.
Clients may also request curated cases for tasting on board or at destination—perfect for business dinners, yacht receptions, or private events in Monaco, Saint-Tropez, or Cannes.
Bespoke Tastings, Guided by Experts
Whether you're a seasoned collector or an aspiring enthusiast, AirWise offers WSET-certified inflight hosts to guide your experience. From food pairings inspired by Michelin-starred cuisine to vertical tastings and blind flights, every element is meticulously prepared to ensure your journey is as refined as your glass.
